Salesforce is widely used in businesses of all sizes across the world. Earlier this June, I was one of three panelists at an event sponsored by Salesforce to promote their technological vision for government. Salesforce Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Community Cloud and Marketing / Pardot have brought transformational change to businesses for years. Now Salesforce is putting talent in place to help government leverage its powerful platforms so they can yield similar improvements.
The keynote speaker was Joe Paiva, now Regional Vice President for Salesforce’s Global Public Sector who brings deep understanding of government to the table. My fellow panelists were Josh Fleig with Louisiana Economic Development and Eric Johnsen with the Port of New Orleans. Josh and Eric shared how their public sector organizations utilize Salesforce. Our firm implements Salesforce for public sector and I was there to share some of my stories with the group.
Having been CIO in government with responsibility for multiple data centers, Joe talked about how cloud is secure and reliable – more than the typical data center and so is a good solution even for security minded governmental and military organizations. Josh knows technology well as he recruits tech companies to Louisiana; he discussed how LED uses the product to track leads and projects. Eric continues to replace legacy systems with modern technology for Port of NOLA. I spoke about how Salesforce’s tools can improve data integrity and decision making and discussed the real story behind integrations and change management.
It was a fun day – thanks to Craig De Angelis at Salesforce for including me.
